Zero-energy building
A "Zero-energy building," also known as net zero energy building, zero net energy building or carbon neutral building, is a building with zero net energy consumption, which means the total amount of energy used by the building on an annual basis is roughly equal to the amount of renewable energy generated on-site.
Zero-energy buildings are designed and engineered to be powered by renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind power or hydropower, which are converted to usable electricity or heat. By utilising sustainable resources for its energy needs, a zero-energy building significantly reduces its overall environmental impact.
