Net zero journey
The "net zero journey" is a formal term that refers to the deliberate pathway taken by an individual, organization, city, or nation to vastly reduce and eventually eliminate greenhouse gas emissions until they hit a 'net zero' target. This goal does not merely entail the cessation of emissions but additionally factors in the absorption of greenhouse gases, ultimately creating an equilibrium between emitted and absorbed gas.
Commencing the net zero journey involves creating a comprehensive and scientifically-informed plan to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions, typically on a time frame that lines up with the goals set by global agreements such as the Paris Agreement. It also involves implementing policies that encourage both the reduction of existing emissions and the enhancement of carbon sinks, which can absorb CO2 from the atmosphere.
Beyond mere conceptual intention, the net zero journey is infused with practical steps, such as transitioning to renewable energy sources, investing in green technology, and implementing responsible consumption and production practices.
