The Emission Factor can be formally defined as a representative value that attempts to relate the quantity of a pollutant released into the atmosphere with an activity associated with the release of that pollutant. It essentially quantifies the emissions produced per unit of activity. This factor is essential to estimate the amount of greenhouse gases released from a variety of sources.
