Anaerobic Digestion

Anaerobic Digestion refers to a series of biological processes in which microorganisms break down biodegradable material in an environment devoid of oxygen. Primarily, it is used for industrial or domestic purposes to manage waste and release a gas, principally a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide, that can be used for energy.

In more depth, Anaerobic Digestion involves the decomposition of organic matter by the bacterial and archaean consortium in a two-step process.
