Air source heat pum

"Air source heat pump" refers to a system that captures and uses the heat in the air outside to provide heating and hot water within a residential or commercial building. It works on the principle of heat transfer where it absorbs heat from the air at a low temperature and releases it at a higher temperature, using a process reminiscent of a refrigerator operating in reverse.

Serving as an efficient, renewable energy resource, air source heat pumps can significantly reduce carbon emissions. Akin to how a refrigerator extracts heat from its interior and expels it outdoors, an air source heat pump extracts heat from the outside air even when the temperature is as low as -15° Celsius. This heat can then be used to warm water for radiators, underfloor heating systems, or direct warmth and hot water supply in homes and businesses.

Air source heat pumps consist of two main components: an outdoor unit that contains the evaporator and a compressor, and an indoor unit that contains the heat exchanger and blower. The outdoor unit absorbs the heat from the external environment, then the compressor raises the temperature of that heat. The indoor unit then distributes the heat or hot water throughout the building.

As an invaluable tool for promoting renewable energy use and mitigating climate change, air source heat pumps are lauded for their efficiency and cost-effectiveness. They use less energy compared to traditional heating systems, contributing to lower energy costs and reduced carbon footprint.
